The safeguarding of children is the most important aspect of being a teacher and I'm very pleased to say that I have just completed the above online training.

Google educator Level 1 bootcamp

This weekend I travelled to Hong Kong to attend a Google Educator Bootcamp as well as the Google App Summit. On Friday we worked with trainer Dean Stokes in the Google offices in Times Square. Check out the fabulous Google office below.
On Friday we worked through the the basics of the following Google Applications.

  • Google Chrome.
  • Gmail.
  • Google Calendar.
  • Google Docs.
  • Google Slides.
  • Google Classroom.
  • Google Forms.

I took the online exam as soon as I returned to Shanghai and I'm very proud to say that I am now a Google Certified Educator Level 1!

On Saturday and Sunday I attended the Google Apps Summit at the German Swiss International School. I attended some very interesting sessions and I am feeling very excited about using Google Apps to try and bring my classroom to life. In particular, I want to experiment more with Google Maps and Google Tour Builder which could be great resources for students documenting information about holidays and travel, and also for allowing students to see and visit the Francophone and Hispanic worlds in real life street view. I think that Adobe Spark could also be a great tool to help with students understanding and applying text formats in creative ways. Finally, Google Cardboard and Google Expedition are super interesting and potentially very exciting for the future, but for now the scope of the expeditions seem limited and I couldn't find specific expeditions for use in the French and Spanish classroom.
