Entre les murs: L'entrée en classe

To introduce the topic of school and to spark a discussion about the possible similarities between a French school and our international school, I showed the students the scene L'entrée en classe from the film Entre Les Murs. The students completed activities 1-4 from this amazing worksheet that I found on TV5.

The film is available to see in full on YouTube and the scene L'entrée en classe starts at 4 minutes 25 seconds.

le petit nicholas

The books and film about Le Petit Nicholas are a great way to stimulate a discussion about school subjects, results and likes and dislikes. In today's class with my Phase 1-2 students we first discussed the book series using this link http://www.petitnicolas.com/collection/albums and then we watched the trailer for the movie for a general impression about the type of boy that Nicholas is and what his home and school life is like.

After watching the trailer I set the scene for this next clip when we see le ministre visiting the school. We watched this clip a couple of times, pausing it and discussing the content.

Next up, the students looked at the PPT below about le bulletin scolaire de Nicholas and the students answered the questions.
